To Kill a Mockingbird

August 25, 2012

Know how you can read a book, and then the movie comes out, it it’s just not as good as the movie you had in your head while you were reading the book?

We saw Christopher Sergel’s  stage adaptation of Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird Saturday at Theatre in the Park, in New Salem State Park, south of Petersburg, Illinois. The book is one of my all-time favorite books and I love the movie with Gregory Peck as Atticus, so I was a little skeptical as to whether the show would do the story justice.

Edward Macmurdo as Atticus had me in tears near the end of the play, so I believe the play was a success. Great cast! Great direction! Awesome story! And, as always, the Theatre in the Park is a wonderful place to see a play.

Performances continue August 30 through September 1, at 8 p.m. I recommend you see one.
